| Many thanks to First Assistant Director Jon Older for his help and permission to quote from him during the filming of Primeval. | |||||||||||
| March 19th 2007 Yesterday, I added a factfile to the James Murray interview section and another interview to the Hannah Spearritt section. Today added the DVD cover for Primeval to the main Primeval gallery. March 16th 2007 Chose to add the Review from the TVTimes to the reviews section. During the weeks added one picture to gallery 1 and a picture to gallery 5, with thanks to Lisa. March 10th 2007 Douglas Henshall was a guest on the Jonathan Ross show on Radio 2 this morning. Dougie laughed and joked with Jonathan about the series and the character of Nick Cutter. He confirmed that series 2 of Primeval will have seven epsiodes and that they will begin filming at the end of May. More info. March 7th 2007 Series two of Primeval is currently in pre-production. It is thought that ITV were hoping for a second series of 13 episodes. However, series two will consist of seven new episodes. Scripts for a second series were authorised as early as November 2006 ( see news for November 22nd 2006). Added a review for episode 5 to the reviews section and two pictures of the main cast Primeval gallery 1. March 3rd 2007 Added three pictures to the James Murray gallery and two articles about James. March 2nd 2007 Added a review of episode 4 to the Primeval reviews page. March 1st 2007 Primeval has been recommissioned! More info. February 27th 2007 I have found a Primeval press pack. It has interviews with all of the main cast, character profiles and episode guides. You may have seen these interviews on other media sites, in magazines and the tabloid press. One media site has done a nice page on the character profiles, so I'm not going to use that and there are some excellent episode guides around. I have put the interviews into the main interview page of each actor at the top of the page. The Ben Miller interview is the one I put on there yesterday and the Douglas Henshall one is the one I thought was from a magazine last Saturday. On the main page I have put an interview with Juliet Aubrey and Mark Wakeling. I have now put all the reviews on a separate page. February 26th 2007 On Saturday I also added a new interview to the production team page. Today I have added one new article to Douglas Henshall interviews and made an interview section for Ben Miller. February 24th 2007 Added one interview to Lucy Brown interview page, one to Hannah Spearritt and one to Douglas Henshall. February 22nd 2007 Have added two more reviews to the Primeval page, one from the New Statesman and another review of episode three from The Mail on Sunday. February 15th 2007 Interviews with Hannah Spearritt and Douglas Henshall are now on the official site. Added two interviews to Douglas Henshall page and three to the Production Team page. February 13 th 2007 Made a page for James Murray interviews having found a new one. Added one picture to the first gallery. Also found an interview with Lucy Brown, which is on the main Primeval page, plus another great review. February 12th 2007 I had several new pictures of the cast to put on the site today. I have now decided to make a gallery (see main Primeval page) for each cast member or character. Some of the pictures that were in the original gallery have now been moved to the appropriate page. The official site now has a synopsis of episode 1 and trailers for episode two. Digital Spy has the viewers ratings for Primeval. February 11th 2007 Added two reviews to the main Primeval page, one from the Observer and another from The Mail on Sunday, as it contains a review for next weeks' episode. Added two interviews to Douglas Henshall's interview page one from The Telegraph and another from Metro, which is mainly about next week's episode. This is also in The Production page and Hannah Spearritt, together with her Dreamwatch interview now they seem to have the picture sorted out at last. Februay 10th 2007 Added one review to the Primeval page and one article to Douglas Henshall interviews. Added three pictures to the Primeval gallery of the cast, Lucy Brown and one of Andrew-Lee fighting a dino. February 9th 2007 The interviews section was far too long on the Primeval page, so I have now made separate pages for each group of interviews, Douglas Henshall, Hannah Spearritt, Andrew-Lee Potts and the production team. Added a couple of interviews to Hannah's page and one with Adrian Hodges, Tim Haines and framestore to the production team's page. February 8th 2007 Added one picture of Douglas Henshall and James Murray to Primeval gallery 1 and one of Douglas Henshall to gallery 3. Also added an interview with Douglas Henshall from The Scotsman. Douglas Henshall appeared on GMTV this morning an I have made a screen capture gallery for these. February 7th 2007 I have now put in three pictures of Primeval photos found on the London Underground into the Primeval gallery. Also added two more pictures of Douglas Henshall to Primeval gallery three and an interview with Dougie on the main Primeval page. February 6th 2007 Primeval is going to repeated on Sundays! This week's repeat is on Sunday at 4.30pm on ITV1. Have made a third gallery for Primeval. This is for Douglas Henshall pictures only. Also added two reviews and an interview with Hannah Spearritt to the main Primeval page. February 5th 2007 Added six new pictures to the Primeval gallery. These include one of Douglas Henshall, one of James Murray, two of Hannah Spearritt and two of the Primeval outdoor poster campaign. Taken the odd picture out of the gallery and changed others around. February 4th 2007 Added four new articles to the Primeval page. These include an interview with Douglas Henshall from the Glasgow Daily Record, Douglas and other cast and crew talking to the Sunday Times and an interview with Cameron McAllister and Primeval character profiles from Digital Spy.Keep looking at the site this week, I have a lot more to put in, including pictures that I haven't seen online yet. February 3rd 2007 Now, this is really exciting! The official Primeval website has now been updated and turned into an interactive website with videos, character profiles, episode guides and games. I expect you will want to enter Nick Cutter's office! You will love reading his profile! There will also be an official forum! The official broadcast time for Primeval is 7.45pm and the 'making of' documentary will be shown on ITV3 at a later date. Well done ITV, this is fabulous and what Douglas Henshall's fans wanted! January 31st 2007 In the latest TV schedules published today Primeval is scheduled for a slot between 7.30pm - 8.30pm on February 10th on ITV1 (sandwiched between Dancing on Ice and Pokerface). January 29th 2007 Have slightly changed the look of the Primeval page. Added two pictures to the Primeval gallery, one of Andrew - Lee Potts and Hannah Spearritt and the other of Ben Miller. Added Dougie's Dreamwatch interview to the Articles and Interviews section. Have began a section for Reviews, beginnig with an excellent review by Mr Brian J Robb of Titan magazines. January 28th 2007 In the June 2006 Dreamwatch magazine this website was recommended for it's information about Primeval. So, I am pleased that the latest edition of Dreamwatch magazine includes an interview with Douglas Henshall about Primeval. Dreamwatch magazine is now online and you can find the link to the interview on the Primeval page in the Articles and Interviews section. January 26th 2007 In a podcast interview for the Guardian today, Douglas Henshall said that he was attracted to the character of Nick Cutter in Primeval because he liked the idea of heroism in ordinary people: 'I wanted to try and make him as accessible to people as possible. I liked the idea of heroism as something ordinary people can do in extraordinary circumstances. I just wanted to create a person who seemed recognisable .' More info January 24th 2007 Episode 5 of Primeval was classified by the bbfc today. It was given a PG certificate and contains 'scary scenes and mild threat'. Current release date for the DVD of series one is March 19th 2007. This would be the Monday after the last episode is shown. January 22nd 2007 The press launch for Primeval took place this morning, so there should be more press reviews soon. It is thought that the programme could be 'sandwiched' between the two editions of Dancing on Ice beginning Saturday 10th February 2007. January 21st 2007 A new Primeval website has now been launched at itv.com. The trailer featured is being shown on ITV1 this weekend. January 18th 2007 On Monday January 15th 2007, the bbfc began classifying Primeval for DVD release, so far they have classified 5 episodes and all have been given a PG certificate. The running time of each episode is about 45 minutes uncut. Most episodes contain 'mild to moderate threat and scary moments', with the exception of the final episode which contains 'moderate violence and threat and one use of moderate language'. DVD sites which claim a March release could be correct. January 16th 2007 I have added three new articles to the main Primeval page. These are interviews with Andrew-Lee Potts, one contains character profiles Thank you to all those who have forums and websites about Primeval or any fan sites about it's cast members who do not copy pages from this site, but provide a link back only. It is very much appreciated. Special thanks to those who even link back when they find news items on this site! January 10th 2007 Primeval is to be shown in New Zealand. The conclusion of a major content deal between BBC Worldwide Australasia and TVNZ will see a significant package of drama, natural history and factual titles air on both TV ONE and TV2 in 2007. Led by spectacular new dramas Torchwood and Primeval, and natural history series Galapagos, the agreement will provide the national broadcaster with more than 40 hours of prime content from the BBC Worldwide slate. More info. January 8th 2007 Have made two galleries for Primeval. One is for official pictures (added the first pictures of Juliet Aubrey to that gallery) and the other is for screen captures. Removed the original 'arachnids' picture, it's just about everywhere now and also the magazine pictures of the first teaser traier shown in October on ITV. These are now on the official trailer. December 31st 2006 ITV's official Primeval site begins with an introduction and THE official trailer. Here's the link. Happy New Year! December 27th 2006 ITV Media have a Winter showcase trailer. Most of the Primeval pictures are of Douglas Henshall. Watch the trailer at ITV media December 21st 2006 Three more pictures added to Primeval gallery. December 20th 2006 Douglas Henshall fans in Australia will be pleased to know that Primeval has been bought by Australia's Nine Network. The distributor is BBC Worldwide, so maybe it will be broadcast on BBCAmerica too. As Primeval has also been produced for Prosieben (Germany) and M6 (France) as well as ITV, it should also be shown in other parts of Europe. More info: c21 media, worldscreen BBC Worldwide December 19th 2006 More pictures have been added to the Primeval gallery December 7th 2006 Exclusive - A Primeval gallery! Made a gallery for Primeval and updated the Primeval page. This also contains a film strip from the Primeval trailer, first shown on ITV in October 2006. Most of these pictures haven't been seen anywhere else yet. Expect to see some of them on other sites later on (don't forget to link back here)! I'm pleased so many people are interested in Dougie Henshall's new TV series. I asked Douglas Henshall if there was going to be an official Primeval site, but he said he doesn't know yet. December 4th 2006 You can read about the animatronic dinosaur Rex in Hannah Spearritt's latest interview on this site. November 28th 2006 Hannah Spearritt who plays Abby in Primeval was interviewed in yesterday's Manchester Evening News (November 27th). November 23rd 2006 Here's a link to someone who's seen a preview of Primeval. November 22nd 2006 Thank you to Douglas Henshall for confirming that three more scripts for another series of Primeval have been authorised. However, as someone else involved with the production said, it's a positive sign, but doesn't mean that it will actually happen. November 16th 2006 A couple of media sites are now publicising Primeval and going for the February 2007 date. See C21.net and easier.com. A good synopsis at the 'easier site', though both sites have mistakes! November 8th 2006 At a recent preview screening of two completed episodes, the general feeling was one of excitement that Primeval could be the successful series that ITV is hoping for. Most of it is looking good and although the CGI might be similar to that of Prehistoric Park, it works better in a drama series. Douglas Henshall says that it is inevitable that the series will be compared to Doctor Who and that he will be compared to David Tennant, but it doesn't bother him! October 31st 2006 There has been some speculation as to which accent Douglas Henshall will use in the series. I asked Douglas Henshall and he said will be using his own accent in the series. He doesn't see any point in changing his accent just for the sake of it. Another important character in the series is Captain Tom Ryan played by Mark Wakeling. October 26th 2006 A link to a 'mock up' Primeval image can be found on the Primeval page. This has been taken from an invitation to a preview screening next month. October 23rd 2006 Primeval trailers began on ITV on October 14th 2006 with the words Primeval 2007. I can now confirm that there is going to be a 'making of Primeval' documentary. Fans will be hoping that there is an interview with Dougie Henshall on it! More info. October 15th 2006 Link to Mark Fisher's interview with Douglas can be found in the Articles and Interviews, Cryptogram and Primeval pages! October 11th 2006 Mark Fisher recently interviewed Douglas Henshall and is writing an article about him for this weekend's Scotland on Sunday(Oct.15th). September 14th 2006 You may have read on various online stores that a DVD release of Primeval is planned for December 26th 2006. Assistant Director Jon Older has been informed by impossible pictures that there isn't even a DVD release deal in place yet for Primaeval. Also the advertised release date is probably before the series will have been transmitted in the UK. September 6th 2006 Primaeval is currently spelt with an a on Douglas Henshall's CV. August 19th 2006 Latest transmission date for Primaeval is rumoured to be in February 2007 in an early evening slot. August 4th 2006 Primaeval update from Jon Older: "Was at Goldcrest on Tuesday afternoon and managed to see the workprint of episode 4 (minus the fx sequences, but with lots of animatics in place.) Not too shabby at all! Ep 5 is currently being edited and with the post-production schedule currently stretching into October, I think I might have to revise my optimistic view that PRIMAEVAL might sneak out this year rather than next." July 28th 2006 Looking on imdb today, I noticed that someone had changed the spelling of Primaeval to Primeval. So be prepared for anything! More info. July 7th 2006 And another word from Jon: There were two days of effects unit shooting at Shepperton this week, then we had the cast and crew wrap party at the Century club in Shaftesbury Avenue last night, where we got to see some sizeable chunks of the finished episode 1 (but alas no sign yet of the creepy villains from episode 2.....) I'm still betting on seeing this hit the schedules this year rather than next.... July 2nd 2006 Primaeval wrapped this evening at 7.22pm! latest posting from Jon: We've wrapped on PRIMAEVAL! At 7.22 this (Sunday) evening on the banks of the Thames in a very sunny Deptford (ah, the glamour of showbiz) and within sight of the Canary Warf . Apparently Framestore have already completed work on Episode 1 and the show is ready for delivery! Maybe 2007 is closer than we think... June 25th 2006 On his latest Primaeval Update Jon Older says: It looks like PRIMAEVAL may not be called PRIMAEVAL after all when it debuts in 2007.!!!!!!!!!!! Shame really. I like it as a title. There's something....well, um, primaeval about it... June 18th 2006 Latest Primaeval Update from Jon Older: 27 days down and just another 11 to go to complete Block 2 on PRIMAEVAL. We've pretty much wrapped episode 4 now, and shot lots of episode 6 (apart from the concluding scene to the series which unfortunately got rained off at Black Park last week.) The next two weeks see us attacking the better part of episode 5 with location shooting in Bucks at a golf club and in the grounds of a private country estate . ITV are starting to crank up the publicity push on the series. We even had an on set visit from Radio 1 yesterday! I've seen a bit of the completed effects footage from Block 1 and it's looking good folks. Look for us in early 2007...... May 20th 2006 I reported last month on the blog that during the week beginning April 10th 2006, Primaeval was filming scenes with elephants at Whipsnade Zoo. According to Jon Older (First Assistant Director) they were back at the zoo again yesterday. Not sure what they were filming, Jon's quoting from the Wizard of Oz! May 17th 2006 Current projected transmission date for Primaeval is in 2007. May 15th 2006 Filming of the second block of Primaeval is due to begin today. Most of episodes 4, 5 and 6 will be filmed in London. May 10th 2006 I am very pleased to announce that the Douglas Henshall website (June 2006) has been recommended in this month's Dreamwatch magazine, issue no. 141 for it's information on Primaeval, following an interview with writer and Co-creator of Primaeval Adrian Hodges. More info April 25th 2006 Douglas Henshall is travelling out to La Palma next week to film some scenes for Primaeval. More info. In a couple of weeks time, filming begins on Block 2 of Primaeval (episodes 4, 5, and 6). Dougie is definitely playing the lead character in Primaeval and the others are there as supporting artists. However, the show does focus on the seven core characters ( see the Primaeval page) and there are very few other 'guest' actors in the series. Hannah Spearrtt's character is called Abby Maitland and not Abby Lister as prevously reported (don't believe everything the papers tell you) and as I have already questioned in the Starburst article, Ben Miller's character is called Lester and not Leicester, so I have now made some changes (I had already corrected a couple of other mistakes in that magazine article!). Apparently early results of footage from the show are looking good. They will probably now settle on the correct spelling of ' Primaeval' for the series. Many thanks to Jon Older, who is 1st Assistant Director on Block 2 of Primaeval for permission to quote from him. April 10th 2006 According to Jon Older Primaeval was being filmed in the underground between Aldwych and Charing Cross on Thursday and Friday. I should imagine filming took place in the unused tracks and the older tunnels (often used in films). This must be for scenes in which giant arachnids rampage through the underground. April 4th 2006 Primaeval (spelling subject to change!!???!!)) begins its 24th shooting day of Block 1 (episodes 1,2 and 3 ) today. Jon Older began putting the shooting schedule for Block 2 (episodes 4, 5 and 6) together yesterday and it goes to camera in about 5 weeks' time. He says he's seen a little bit of the non-fx footage and can honestly say that it looks good. March 8th 2006 I now have the names for two directors for Primaeval, Cilla Ware and Jamie Payne. There is a small news item about the series and picture of Dougie on page 10 of this week's Radio Times. February 5th 2006 According to the Daily Mirror Dougie has been given the lead in a new ITV drama series entitled Primaeval. He will play Professor Nick Cutter, a time travelling scientist and his assistant Abby Lister will be played by Hannah Spearritt (ex S Club 7). James Murray will play Cutter's research assistant Stephen Hardy. The series is from Impossible Pictures 'Walking With Dinosaurs' Creator Tim Haines and the Professor's team are employed by the government to investigate dinosaurs appearing on earth.Thank you to Dean for this info. It is much appreciated. |
