Jurassic Lark! Pop babe Hannah Spearritt takes on dinosaurs in new series. Here’s ex-s Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt with a flying dinosaur called Rex on Primeval, ITV1’S £6 million answer to Doctor Who. The new sci-fi series which stars Hannah and is from the makers of Walking With Dinosaurs, tells the story of a group of reptile experts who discover that prehistoric creatures are invading modern – day Britain through gaps in space and time. ‘I play Abby, a zoologist who knows all about lizards and reptiles,” says Hannah who turned to acting after enjoying huge success with chart-toppers S Club 7. ‘She stumbles across a dinosaur which they call Rex. The production crew made an animatronic version of him, which is pretty adorable!” But there are plenty of not so cute critters in Primeval, which also stars Douglas Henshall, Ben Miller and Juliet Aubrey. No doubt ITV hope the show will be as big as Doctor Who and Hannah admits that the Time Lord’s former assistant Billie Piper has inspired her. “I think Billie showed that it can be done,” smiles Hannah “She has made a pathway for other pop people like myself to step through to the acting side – she’s done a great job.” Primeval will be shown on ITV1 next year.
