The film’s story is inspired by the childhood of its director Miše Radivojevic, when a German officer moved into his house during the time of the German occupation.

-
The story of “How I was stolen by the Germans” is about the film’s writer and director Miše Radivojevic’s childhood. But, as often happens in film, there is freedom of creating new stories through the basic story.

Svetozar Cvetkovic explained that some parts of the story have been changed.

- But, however, according to Radivojevic, at the time when the world was in hell being destroyed by the Third Reich, one boy experienced his most beautiful moments in  life due to this man in uniform, who personally provided all love and attention that the child needed. He was a like a guardian and taught him all those things which are usually taught by parents.  Playing piano, catching wasps in his hands and learning about nature and to recognize the values of which  he would  later become much more aware of, simply, he opened the way to the art of love – a story.

Svetozar Cvetkovic reveals that in this film in some way Miše is grateful to the Germans.

– Miša’s life is dedicated to art. In a way, the foreigner, the occupier, is responsible for his decisions in life. He is now, after many years, through this film, honouring the man who did such a lot for him

Cvetkovic explains that in the film he plays the boy, but in his later years.

- I play the boy in 1991, in his fifties, who is of course, now grown up and he remembers his childhood, and the year 1943.  Through dialogue with an abandoned girl who has been left with him and whom he is taking to the social workers and institutions, he goes on an the emotional search for his roots.

Svetozar Cvetkovic tells the story and reveals the role of other actors in the film.

- Emir Hadžzhafizbegovic plays the police agent, and then Voja Brajovic plays the doctor, Gordan Kicic plays the little boy's father, his mother is Jelena Djokic, while Dara Dzokic and Tihomir Stanic play grandmother and grandfather and Douglas Henshall, the famous British actor, plays the part of the German officer Werner .

Svetozar states that the filmis to begin recording in September. He says that the film will be made in cooperation with the majority of our neighbouring countries.

- We will work together with, Hungary, Montenegro, Germany, Bosnia, Slovenia.  Also, we received support from the Ministry of Culture, through a competition at the film centre of Serbia, but all the funds to start the recording are not yet in our hands. We also applied for a grant from the European Council - Svetozar, explains that the film will be recorded in different locations in Serbia, but also in Montenegro and Bosnia.

Anglo-German star :

In the movie “How I was stolen by the Germans", expect the best of our finest actors to play in the film and a very successful English actor Douglas Henshall, will interpret the role of the German officer Werner.  Douglas was born in Glasgow, and the first role was in 1990  in the series "Taggart" and he has mainly worked in television series and theatre projects.

The film will be recorded in Valjevo :

We signed a contract with the town of Valjevo, which will host the film and our team and plays an important part in our production. We will be there to record most of the film.  We decided on Valjevo because the core of the old city Tesnjar retained the authenticity of the time and  the period in which  the story takes place, and the environment is beautiful.  The film will be recording till the end of October said Svetozar Cvetkovic.
