The King's Head : A Maverick in London

For over 35 years The King's Head Theatre has been responsible for launching the careers of many now famous names within the entertainment industry. A documentary about one man's vision, that of theatrical legend Dan Crawford of the King’s Head Theatre was released on DVD in April 2006 by Dragonfly Films.

'The King’s Head: A Maverick in London' follows Crawford as he casts, rehearses and mounts a production of Michael Wall’s 'Women Laughing'.  In the the documentary, over 60 contributors talk about their experiences of The King's Head Theatre and the director Dan Crawford is profiled.


Those participating in the documentary and also the additional  '
Making of' documentary include Steven Berkoff, Alan Rickman, Joanna Lumley, Victoria Wood, Victor Spinetti, Douglas Henshall, Tom Stoppard, Uri Geller, Mike Figgis, Anita Dobson, Mel Smith & Richard E. Grant.

Although
Douglas Henshall's interview was not featured in the 60 minute documentary A Maverick in London, there is footage of him in the 'Making of' documentary and in the 'outtakes' on the DVD.

The Making Of 'A Maverick In London'

Following the production team & crew of 'A Maverick In London', the story of The King's Head Theatre, an hour long documentary co-directed by IFTA nominee Jason Figgis ('The Twilight Hour') & Stephanie Sinclaire ('Silence Become You'), produced by Dragonfly Films, interviews by Stash Kirkbride, shot on DV in Islington, North London, UK. Over 14 hours of footage was shot for the Making Of over a 6 week period, the final edit is a 50 minute rollercoaster ride through the production, including many, many famous faces.
