| Synopsis Two eighteen year old boys from two very different Italian familes decide to leave for India having failed their final school exams. One is a shy, insecure Jewish boy in conflict with his father Leone and the other an adopted Indian, from a respectable Italian family, struggling to find his identity. Arriving in India without any money or documentation the two friends are separated in the confusion. The Jewish boy Pollo (Andrea Risi) is helped by an Italian doctor working for Medicins Sans Frontiers, Chiara (Giovanna Mezzogiorno), who comes from a poor family. Through Chiara the boys are reunited and travel to a remote village where Chiara works. At the beginning of the film the three are running away frrom themselves and their responsibilities. In the end they discover their own identities. Pollo finds a Jewish ghetto in an Indian village and goes to a synagogue for the first time in his life. The Indian boy Curry (Angel Tom Karumathy) discovers his Indian heritage, finds his sister and takes her back to Rome with him. Chiara comes to terms with her personal and professional doubt and goes back to Britain to start a family with her husband (Douglas Henshall). |
