| Weybridge shop stars in ITV drama
One of the oldest shops in Oatlands Drive, Weybridge, is to star in an ITV drama about people whose lives intertwine following a motorway pile-up. Hamza Sadique, owner of the 30-year-old printing shop Sunflower Graphics, was approached by a production company three weeks ago and has agreed to let the cameras in on September 5. They'll be filming three scenes of a show called Collision at the premises, after a customer who works for ITV suggested the location. Hamza, 25, who bought the business a year ago, said: "One of the characters comes into the shop because he has a top secret document and needs it copied urgently. He comes in, gets it copied, and runs out again." Hamza, who has converted the premises into an art, stationary, and printing shop, is getting paid more than £1,000 by production company Greenlit Rights, but declined a further filming day for fear of losing trade. He said: "At the moment it is going to be a day and a bit of down time and some of our staff will have to work at night to get everything ready the next day. Filming will stop at 10pm and then they will have to clear up, so two of us will have to stay to get the machines working to keep our customers happy." Collision will air in early 2009 and boast the largest car crash ever shot for British TV. By Mark Goode www.surreyherald.co.uk - August 30th 2008 |
